چکیده
In ion sensing applications, selective ion-receptor complexation is the molecular basis for endowing material with selectivity. this work, thin polymeric membrane-based transfer voltammetry used to investigate complexation, using a range of electrically neutral ionophores and surfactants as examples. Previous studies lacked convincing approach eliminate influence from transducing layer, resulting in deviations observed binding constants compared potentiometric methods. A recently developed method allows subtracting potential changes thereby overcoming challenge. Using approach, are assessed. Valinomycin detection potassium gave logarithmic complex formation constant membrane 9.69 ± 0.25 1:1 stoichiometry. Lithium ionophore VI lithium stability 5.97 0.06 1:2 complexes; while sodium X (7.57 0.03, 1:1) calcium IV (21.57 0.25, 1:3) were also characterized, addition their complexes interfering ions. The three explored membranes containing valinomycin, Brij-35 (4.88 0.08, 1:1), Triton X-100 (5.63 0.10, F-127 (4.63 0.49, 1:1). Limitations discussed, which includes need electrochemical reversibility sufficiently high lipophilicity adequately retain components

Reactions of complex metalloproteins studied by protein-film voltammetry
The following review explores applications of voltammetric methods for observing reactions of complex metalloproteins. Attention is focused upon the technique of ‘protein-film voltammetry’, in which the protein molecules under investigation are adsorbed on the electrode surface and electrochemically ‘interrogated.’ The experiments address a minuscule sample with high sensitivity, and optimal co...
متن کاملInterfacial interactions between natural RBC membranes and synthetic polymeric nanoparticles.
The unique structural features and stealth properties of a recently developed red blood cell membrane-cloaked nanoparticle (RBC-NP) platform raise curiosity over the interfacial interactions between natural cellular membranes and polymeric nanoparticle substrates. Herein, several interfacial aspects of the RBC-NPs are examined, including completeness of membrane coverage, membrane sidedness upo...
متن کاملRapid Biogas Production by Compact Multi-Layer Membrane Bioreactor: Efficiency of Synthetic Polymeric Membranes
Entrapment of methane-producing microorganisms between semi-permeable synthetic membranes in a multi-layer membrane bioreactor (MMBR) was studied and compared to the digestion capacity of a free-cell digester, using a hydraulic retention time of one day and organic loading rates (OLR) of 3.08, 6.16, and 8.16 g COD/L·day. The reactor was designed to retain bacterial cells with uprising plug flow...
متن کاملFunctionalized Polymeric Membranes for CO2 Capture
Reducing CO2 emission and lowering the concentration of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere has quickly become one of the most urgent environmental issues. While a variety of technologies and methods have been developed, the separation of CO2 from gas streams is still a critical issue. Apart from establishing new techniques, the exploration of membrane materials with high separation performance ...
متن کاملTheory of linear sweep voltammetry with diffuse charge: Unsupported electrolytes, thin films, and leaky membranes.
Linear sweep and cyclic voltammetry techniques are important tools for electrochemists and have a variety of applications in engineering. Voltammetry has classically been treated with the Randles-Sevcik equation, which assumes an electroneutral supported electrolyte. In this paper, we provide a comprehensive mathematical theory of voltammetry in electrochemical cells with unsupported electrolyt...
